XWiki Labs

XWiki is a research-intensive company.

XWiki has received support from Google since 2005 through the Summer of Code program which has financed focused research & development projects with the help of top students from around the world such as peer to peer usage, offline usage, WYSIWYG editing or work on usability.

XWiki was selected in 2006 by the French National Research Agency for XWiki Concerto, a 2.3Meuros - 2 year research project involving prestigious partners, research labs and engineering schools INRIA, OW2, ENST, EISTI, and Mandriva, aiming at the development of mobile usage of XWiki technology.

XWiki has participated since January 2007 in the European Research Project NEPOMUK - FP6-027705 - through a 2 year agreement with EDGE-IT, a Mandriva company. NEPOMUK brings together researchers, industrial software developers, and representative industrial users, to develop a comprehensive solution for extending the personal desktop into a collaboration environment which supports both the personal information management and the sharing and exchange across social and organizational relations.

XWiki is coordinating SCRIBO – Semi-automatic and Collaborative Retrieval of Information Based on Ontologies – a project sponsored by System@tic. SCRIBO aims at designing algorithms and collaborative open-source software for the automatic extraction of knowledge from texts and images, and for the semi-automatic annotation of digital documents. SCRIBO has a total budget of 4.3Meuros and is partially funded by the French administration. It brings 9 participants together: AFP, CEA LIST, INRIA, LRDE (Epita), Mandriva, Nuxeo, Proxem, Tagmatica and XWiki.
